A comprehensive history of English furniture and woodwork, showing its development through the discussions of Tudor houses, Gothic woodwork, colour decoration, timber houses, wood panellings, the progression of English oak tables, domestic clocks, lacquer work and more. 

Written by Herbert Cescinsky, a prominent figure in the world of antiques and decorative arts during the period, and Ernest R. Gribble, a factory manager for antique furniture manufacturers and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce. Prior to this work, Cescinsky co-authored "English Furniture of the Eighteenth Century," a seminal work that solidified his reputation as an expert in antique furniture.

Condition

In the original cloth binding. Externally, excellent, with really only minor shelf wear and a couple marks to the spine. Internally, half title page and frontispiece to Vol I loosening, otherwise volume is firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean, with only offsetting to the endpapers.
