First Edition, Leather Binding, Very Scarce
The various sessions of the 'Council of State Debates' took place between 1921 and 1946, and are very scarce.
Present here are volume III, Numbers 14 to 42, each retaining their original front and rear wrap, and dating between Wednesday, 24th January 1923 and Tuesday, 27th March 1923.
To the rear of this work are three index volumes: the Index to Volume III, Part II; Volume II, and III, Part I.
These sessions began as a result of the 1919 Government of India Act, which gave effect to the Montague-Chelmsford Reforms. The debates included input from the Governor General, the Council of State, and the Legislative Assembly.
Offering a very scarce insight into the governance of India in the early 1920s.
Condition
In a half calf binding, with cloth covered boards. Loss of leather to head of each board at fore edge, with significant worming to board heads in these regions. Hinges reinforced with cloth. Internally, firmly bound. Pages generally bright and clean. Worming to head and fore edge of first twenty leaves, and final ten leaves.
