A scarce first edition by French author Paul-Louis Couchoud, translated to English by Frances Rumsey. The volume supplies an observational approach to the culture of Japan, with emphasis on the philosophy of Confucius.

Condition

In publisher's original binding. Externally, smart. Minor bumping to extremities, causing slight folding to cloth at head of spine. Fading to the spine and top left of front board. Boards otherwise very good condition. Owner's bookplate to front paste down. Minor spotting to endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are clean and bright.
