Illustrated by the author with a colour frontispiece, monochrome vignettes and twenty-seven plates, with many in colour. Collated complete.

A detailed exploration of the author's time in Mesopotamia, with chapters on the Venice of the East, Sinbad the Soldier, the Wise Men from the West, the waters of Babylon, Old Baghdad, and more. Written and illustrated by Donald Maxwell, an English writer and illustrator who produced over thirty works on his voyages, notable for his topographical paintings. 

Condition

In the publisher's original quarter cloth. Externally very smart with bumping to the extremities, minimal fading to the spine and marks to the rear board. Past owner's signature to the front free endpaper and light offsetting to the endpapers. Internally generally firmly bound with only the first few pages starting. Pages lightly age toned with the odd spot.
