    First Edition, Original Binding, Publishers' Original Binding

    Two volumes. First edition. Written by John Drinkwater, an English poet and dramatist known before World War I as one of the Dymock poets. In 1918, he had his first major success with his play Abraham Lincoln, which was followed with others in a similar vein, including Mary Stuart and Oliver Cromwell. This set includes: Oliver Cromwell: A Play, 1921. Depicting the life of Oliver Cromwell, an English statesman, politician, and soldier, widely regarded as one of the most important figures in the history of the British Isles. Robert E. Lee: A Play, 1923. Depicting the life of Robert Edward Lee, a Confederate general during the American Civil War.

    Condition

    In the original red cloth binding. Externally, smart with minor bumping to the extremities and light fading to the spines. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with light age toning to the endpapers.
