Description

First Edition, Publishers' Original Binding

The first US edition of this work. Kirpatrick A1b. Published on the 20th May 1920.

The text of this first US edition was revised by Woolf.

First published in 1915, Woolf's first novel details the voyage of Rachel Vinrace for South America on her father's ship, after which she is launched on a course of self-discovery, likely reflecting Woolf's own journey from a repressive household to the intellectual stimulation of the Bloomsbury Group.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Bumping to back strip head and tail, with a touch of fraying to head of rear joint. Hinges strained, but firmly held. Internally, firmly bound, with binding a touch strained to the start of the work. Pages a touch age toned, with only the odd spot.
