A vividly written series of observations made of the wildlife found on the island of Iona and the Inner Hebrides, including the behaviours of terns, wild swans, red-throated divers and grey seals.
Written by Seton Gordon, a world-famous naturalist, photographer and folklorist noted for his descriptions of Scottish wildlife and sceneries. He is believed to have been the first to photograph both the snow bunting and the whooper swan at nests in Scotland.
Condition
In the original cloth binding. Externally, smart, with faint damp spotting to the boards. Rubbing and bumping to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with offsetting to the endpapers and light spotting to the first and last few leaves. Ex libris bookplate to the front free endpaper, bearing no name.
