Aurora Mardiganian (1901-1994) was a survivor of the Armenian genocide, which was instigated by Turkish nationalists during the First World War. She witnessed the murder of her family, and was forced to march over 2,300 km, during which she was kidnapped and sold into the slave markets of Anatolia. She eventually found refuge in America, with the help of Frederick W. MacCallum.
In New York, she was approached by Harvey Gates, a young screenwriter, who helped her write and publish a memoir of her experiences. This book is the result.
Four pages of advertisements to the rear.
Condition
In the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, cloth is generally smart and bright with the odd small mark to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean. Closed tear to the title page, not affecting the text. Dust wrapper is sound, with chipping to the folds and extremities of the wraps, causing losses to the head and tail of the spine of the wraps.
