Two hundred copies of this scarce limited edition were produced, with this being no. 59, making it one of 149 in which Fingesten's etchings are printed on handmaid laid paper, and each etching is hand signed by the artist.
In this work, German music critic and essayist Adolf Weissmann discusses 'the erotic in music'. Weissmann was an influential critic, combining sociological perspectives with historical facts.
Illustrated with ten plates by Czech-Austrian painter and graphic artist Michel Fingesten, who was one of the most prolific graphic artists and bookplates designers of the twentieth century.
Italian journalist and critic Giampiero Mughini said "Fingesten is to the history of the ex libris as Pablo Picasso is to that of painting".
Each of these plates is signed in pencil by Fingesten.

With the bookplate of German writer, painter and art gallery owner Jack Bilbo to the front free endpaper. Bilbo fled to France, Spain, and finally to England after the Nazi's came to power. In 1941, Bilbo opened The Modern Art Gallery in London, exhibiting the work of Kurt Schwitters, Pablo Picasso, and his own paintings.

In the publisher's original paper vellum backed boards. Handling marks to board perimeters, with ink spots to tail of front board. Boards age toned to perimeters. Ink marks to front pastedown. Bookplate to front free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright, with spotting throughout to text leaves and page perimeters.
