Colour Plates, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding

An uncommon 1910s edition of one of Potter's most popular works, date 1919 via presence of Quinby plate XV endpapers, and 'Limited' to the publisher's information.

'The Tale of Jemima Puddle-Duck' was the first of Potter's works to be set wholly at her Lake District farm. The charming tale follows an Aylesbury domestic duck who searches for a place to hatch her eggs without human - or animal - interference.

Illustrated with twenty-seven colour plates illustrated in Potter's signature style. Collated, complete.

With the inscription of 'Susan Brown' to the front pastedown, and a presentation inscription, dated Christmas 1934, to the verso of the front free endpaper.

Condition

In the publisher's original paper covered boards. Light marks to boards. Crude tape reinforcement running the length of the back strip. Front hinge lightly strained with board holding firm. First five leaves detached but present, including half title, title page and frontispiece. Internally, binding strained throughout. Pages bright and generally clean, with the odd spot or mark.
