A moving collection of poems by John Stanhope Arkwright, a British Conservative Party politician, first written and published during the Great War, especially in its concluding stages.

The Supreme Sacrifice is a poem remembering the fallen of the First World War, and was set to music by Charles Harris, creating the well known hymn O Valiant Hearts which features prominently in annual Remembrance Day services.

In publisher's full rexine. Externally, excellent. Light shelf wear to head and tail of the spine and extremities of boards. Small mark to rear board. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
