A charming collection of the fairy tales of Hans Christian Andersen, a Danish author, prolific writer of plays, travelogues, novels, and poems, best remembered for his literary fairy tales. With titles including: The Princess and the Pea, The Emperor's New Clothes, The Snow Queen, Paradise Garden, and The Nightingale. Retold by Jan Van Der Moer, a Dutch author. Illustrated by Edmund Dulac, a French-British naturalised magazine illustrator, book illustrator and stamp designer. Previously held in the library of Nicolas McDowall, a British artist who owned a private press, established with his wife, called the Old Stile Press.
Condition
In the original quarter cloth binding with paper covered boards. Externally, smart with light rubbing to the extremities and minor chipping. Fading to the spine with the odd small mark to the boards. Light sunning to the board edges. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd small handling mark. Light spotting and age toning to the endpapers with the previous owner's bookplate to the front endpaper.
