What Our Customers Say...

Description

First Edition, Original Binding

Direct from the library of the late Hugh Selbourne MD (1906-1973) a noted book collector and diarist. In original paper wraps. Bound with half title and two pages of publisher's advertisements to the rear. Rear wrap advertises Shaw's 'How to Settle the Irish Question'. George Bernard Shaw was an Irish playwright, critic and polemicist whose influence on Western theatre, culture and politics extended from the 1880s to his death and beyond. He courted unpopularity by denouncing both sides in the First World War as equally culpable and although not a republican, castigated British policy on Ireland in the postwar period. This text reviews the policies and political history prior to the First World War and gives Shaw's views on war.

Condition

In original paper wraps. Externally, smart. Bumping to extremities and a few marks to boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are age toned with the odd spot throughout.
