This is a contemporary first-hand account of the British conquest of Jerusalem during the First World War.

Written by William Thomas Massey (1864–1934), the official war correspondent attached to the Egyptian Expeditionary Force, the book provides a detailed chronicle of General Edmund Allenby’s 1917 campaign in Palestine, culminating in the capture of Jerusalem from Ottoman control.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, smart. Slight rubbing and bumping to extremities. Spine slightly faded. The odd very minor handling mark to boards. Bookplate of Francis E. B. Witts to front paste down. Library stamp and annotation to front paste down and library stamp to rear paste down. Slight offsetting to endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean with the odd spot to first and last few leaves and fore edge. Library stamp to verso of title page.
