What Our Customers Say...
Description
First Edition, Original Binding, Publishers' Original Binding, Scarce
The first edition of the work. Scarce. The author's first novel, telling the story of Ruth Pennistan, a farmer's daughter born in Kent with Spanish gypsy heritage. The telling work mirrors Sackville-West's own family, later explored in her noted biographical work 'Pepita'. Vita Sackville-West was an English poet, novelist and horticulturalist, as well as a prolific letter writer and diarist. She is also known as a member of the Bloomsbury Group and androgynous protagonist of Orlando: A Biography, written by her friend and lover Virginia Woolf. A scarce copy of the first work by an important literary figure.
