The first edition of this scarce work.

Signed by the author to the front paste down, "To C. W. Bradshaw, from Jellicoe, HMS New Zealand, 3/2/20".

A first hand account of the H.M.S. New Zealand, as she was during her naval missions to India and the Dominions.

The author, Admiral John Jellicoe, recounts the ships travels from Portsmouth to Bombay, onto India, Australia, the South Pacific Islands, New Zealand, and finally Canada.

Jellicoe was a naval officer who fought in the Anglo-Egyptian War, Boxer Rebellion, and the First World War. During the 1920 he was the governor-general of New Zealand. 

Illustrated with a frontispiece, one loosely inserted colour folding map, and two plates. Collated, complete.

Volume I only, of a total of two volumes.

Condition

In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, generally smart, with light marks to the cloth. Minor bumping to the extremities, with very small tears. Faint tidemark to the tail of the front board, and the rear joint. Front hinge has been reinforced. Author's inscription to the front paste down. Front endpapers have been renewed. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean, with a few scattered spots. Small closed tears to the folding map.
