The scarce to see and sought after first edition, first impression, of this work.

A brilliant collection of horror short stories by the renowned author Montague Rhodes James.
'A Thin Ghost' was the author's third story collection, following his popular work 'Ghost Stories of an Antiquary', and 'More Ghost Stories of an Antiquary'. He published this collection for Christmas entertainments, intending the stories to be read aloud on Christmas Eve. Touchingly, in the preface of this first edition James points out that these are more cheerful horror stories, with only one mention of the war.
This collection includes 'The Residence at Whitminster', 'The Diary of Mr Poynter', 'An Episode of Cathedral History', 'The Story of a Disappearance and an Appearance', and 'Two Doctors'.
Two of these stories had originally been published in 'Cambridge Review'.
