This is an authoritative regimental history tracing over two centuries of service by the Norfolk Regiment, from its origins as Henry Cornwall’s Regiment of Foot in 1685 through to the end of the First World War.
The first volume is illustrated with three full-page maps, numerous in-text sketches and additional maps, and twenty-three plates, while volume two is illustrated with two full-page maps, numerous in-text sketches and maps, and twenty-one plates. Collated, complete.
Francis Loraine Petre (1852–1925) was a British military historian and member of the Foreign Office, best known for his detailed studies of the Napoleonic Wars.
Condition
In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, very smart. Slight rubbing an bumping to extremities. Slight fading to spines. The odd minor hanling mark to boards, more so to volume II, with the odd slight spot of damp staining. Spotting to endpapers of volume I. Internally, firmly bound, with the exception of the frontispiece of volume I, which is fully disbound. Pages generally bright and clean with the odd spot to first and last few leaves. Slight damp staining to upper fore edges of final pages of Volume II, not affecting the text.
