First Edition, Publishers' Original Binding, Very Scarce

The first edition of this slim volume containing seven hitherto unpublished letters from iconic Victorian era novelist Charles Dickens, to his friend, the prominent English painter Clarkson Stanfield, best known for his dramatic large scale paintings of marine subjects and landscapes. These letters were composed between 1845 and 1855.

Edited and with commentary from poet and scholar Cumberland Clark.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Bumping to back strip head and tail. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright.
