A limited edition of 875 copies, of which this is numbered 863. 

Vividly illustrated with a chromolithograph frontispiece, twelve chromolithograph ornament pages, thirty-five colour plates, and one map. Collated, complete. 

This volume offers a fantastic biography on the life of Mohammad, written from original sources. The prophet's life and achievements are faithfully recounted in this discerning biography, and provides a sensitive and profound look at the beginnings of Islam.

This is a "substantial work of scholarship" by Etienne Dinet, Sliman Ben Ibrahim, and Mohammad Racim.

Plates by Etienne Dinet, later known as Nasreddine Dinet, a French orientalist painter and one of the founders of the Société des Peintres Orientalistes. 

Ornamental designs by the Algerian artist Mohammad Racim.

Condition

In the original publisher's paper wraps, rebacked. Externally, generally smart, with some light handling marks to the wraps. Minor edge wear to the wraps, resulting in a few small chips and closed tears. Tidemark to the tail of the front wrap. Head of the spine is lifting. Front hinge is weak. Internally, binding is tender and requires careful handling. Pages are bright and clean.
