This scarce first edition depicts Kirtland's captivating experience walking through Japan's charming ancient Tōkaidō and Nakasendō highroads, capturing the mystical landscapes and culture he uncovers during his travels.

Condition

In publisher's original binding. Externally, smart. Slight bumping to extremities, more significant to the head and tail of the spine, causing minor splitting to cloth. Fading to the spine and the odd mark on the boards. Minor spotting to the front free endpaper. Owner's bookplate and bookseller label to front paste down. Internally, generally firmly bound, with binding to the frontispiece and occasional plate loosening. Pages are clean and bright with the odd spot, more significant to the front. Prior owner's ink stamp to front paste down and title page.
