First edition. Illustrated with a colour frontispiece and four black-and-white plates. Collated complete. A fairytale telling the story of the war between the kingdoms of Euralia and Barodia and the political shenanigans which take place in Euralia in the king's absence. The entire story was supposedly rewritten by Milne from the original writings of the fictional historian "Roger Scurvilegs". Written by Alan Alexander Milne, an English writer best known for his books about the teddy bear Winnie-the-Pooh, as well as children's poetry. Illustrated by Henry Matthew Brock, a British illustrator and landscape painter. Dated from the University of Cambridge Libraries.
Condition
In the original full cloth binding. Externally, sound with rubbing and light bumping to the extremities. Fading to the spine with marks to the boards. A damp mark to the rear board. Front hinge starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound with the first plate detached but present. Pages are very bright with the odd small spot or handling mark. Small closed tears to the edges of the plates, not disturbing the images. Light spotting and age toning to the first and last few pages. A contemporary ink inscription to the front endpaper.
