Each volume contains chapters and articles on breeding habits, plumage, nesting, eggs, habits, and habitats of the birds found across the British Isles from the most common to the unlikely visitor. Established for the benefit of British ornithology, British Birds is aimed at serious birdwatchers and ornithologists, and publishes the findings of the British Birds Rarities Committee. In 1916, British Birds magazine absorbed The Zoologist, due to the latter's shortage of subscribers. Edited by Harry Forbes Witherby, a noted British ornithologist, author, publisher and founding editor of this magazine. Assisted by British ornithologists F. C. R. Jourdain, Norman. T.
