Complete in twelve volumes. 

This set uniformly bound in half crushed morocco and cloth boards. With lovely gilt decorations to the spines.

Davis was a journalist and writer of romantic novels and short stories, known foremost as the first American war correspondent to cover the Spanish-American war, the Second Boer War and World War I. He also played a major role in the evolution of the American magazine and gained his reputation through reporting noteworthy events such as the first electrocution of a criminal, and controversial subjects such as abortion and suicide. 

This set includes his fiction works, including his early successes 'Gallegher and Other Stories' and popular novels 'Ranson's Folly'.

With a frontispiece to each volume.

From the library of Annie Pearson, Viscountess Cowdray (1860-1932) an English society hostess, suffragist and philanthropist. She was nicknamed the "Fairy Godmother of Nursing" through her promotion of district nursing throughout England and Scotland. She served as the President of the Women's Liberal Federation from 1921 until 1923 and was also the Honorary Treasurer of the Liberal Women's Suffrage Union.

Condition

Uniformly bound in half crushed morocco and cloth boards, with gilt decorations to the spines. Externally, with rubbing to the extremities, mostly to the joints. The odd mark or spot to the boards. Bookplate of Annie Cowdray to the front pastedowns. Internally, firmly bound with bright and clean pages. Bookplate of Sidney Davidson to several of the volumes' front free endpapers.
