Decorative Binding, Illustrated
Scarce to see in this binding.
In a highly decorative binding, with quarter leather and thick wooden panels, with the front panel containing a clear insert of 'Jordan Water', and the rear panel containing a similar insert filled with 'Holy Earth' of Nazareth.
These decorative bindings were intended as a souvenir piece, with their popularity growing during the first half of the twentieth century.
A copy of The New Testament of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, translated out of the original Greek, and with the former translations diligently compared and revised by His Majesty's special command A. D. 1611.
Illustrated with six colour illustrations and a frontispiece.
Dated using Jisc, from copies of the work held at the University of Cambridge.
Lacking the holy water, although the holy earth is present.
Condition
Bound in quarter leather with wooden panels. Externally, very good, with light rubbing to the leather causing a little wear to the head and tail of the spine. Jordan water to front panel is no longer in the compartment. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
