1916 The Love Letters of a Subaltern
What Our Customers Say...
Description
Very Scarce
A very scarce work in the publisher's original paper boards.
A collection of letters between a British soldier and his fiancée between December 1915 to July 1916. Although the foreword states that these letters are "founded on actual facts" and that only names and places are of a "fictitious character", it is likely that this work is mainly fictitious with occasional autobiographical elements.
This work, written by a "Field Officer", aims to show how the ordeal of battle changes the minds and morals of soldiers.
Undated, dated through copies held at the British Library.
Condition
In the publisher's original paper boards. Externally, in unusually lovely condition for its age. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright with the odd spot, heavier to the first and last few pages, and to the fore edge, affecting the occasional page.
