Written by celebrated prize-winning English novelist and short story writer, Rudyard Kipling, known for much of his work being inspired by his upbringing in India. Kipling is considered as an innovator of the art of the short story, writing with luminosity and versatility.

'The Light that Failed' was Kipling's first novel, first published in 1891. The story is largely set in London, following the life of an artist who loses his sight.

Bound in the publisher's limp calf, with the very scarce, original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, very good, with light rubbing to the extremities, heavier to the backstrip head and tail, with the odd mark. Pencil inscription to front free endpaper. Dust wrapper is sound, with chipping causing some loss to the backstrip and extremities. Small chips to the backstrip. Sunning to the wrap, heavier to the spine, with a few light marks. Internally, firmly bound with bright, clean pages.
