This volume explores the vibrant social and political world surrounding Devonshire House in Piccadilly, centering the elite Whig-aligned social group involving Georgiana, Duchess of Devonshire (1757–1806) and her mother-in-law Elizabeth, Duchess of Devonshire (1758–1824).

This volume features 17 illustrated monochrome plate portraits. Collated, complete.

Condition

In the publisher’s original cloth binding. Externally, very smart. Slight rubbing and bumping to extremities. Slight fading and rubbing to rear board. The odd slight spot to endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean with the odd spot. Scattered spotting to first and last few leaves.
