The first edition. 

Illustrated with a frontispiece and seventy-five monochrome plates to 'Vol I', and fifty-four monochrome plates and a large coloured folding map to 'Vol II'. Collated, complete. 

A detailed ethnographical study on the Javanese people of Indonesia, written by the British author Donald Maclaine Campbell. The work provides an account of the country and its ancient history dating back before the arrival of the Mohometans, the people, antiquities, the plants and fauna, and its products. 

A two volume complete set of this scarce work.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth. Externally, faded to the spines, with minimal rubbing and bumping to the extremities, and a slight lean and very small closed tears to the head of the spine to 'Vol I'. Light spotting to the endpapers. Internally firmly bound with bright and generally clean pages with the odd spot, heavier to the front and rear.
