1914 The Man Upstairs and Other Stories
What Our Customers Say...
Description
First Edition, Publishers' Original Binding, Scarce
A scarce first edition. One of Wodehouse's least common first editions.
Issue undetermined, as this copy lacks the final page of advertisements (page 31 of the catalogue) which bears the date that determines issue, per McIlvaine.
A collection of nineteen short stories, the majority of which had previously appeared in magazines. The miscellaneous collection does not feature any of Wodehouse's recurring characters, and most of the tales concern love and romance.
With a publisher's catalogue to the rear.
With a bookplate to the front pastedown, former owner's stamp to a front blank, and library bookplate of the 21st (Harwich) Fortress Coy. R.E. to the front pastedown, head of pages 1, tail of page 316 and to a few further leaves.
A second edition was not published until 1922, and was significantly revised.
Housed in a facsimile dust wrapper.
