A beautifully illustrated edition of Robert Michael Ballantyne's sequel to his best known work, 'The Coral Island'. This sequel is set six years after 'Coral Island', and is set in Africa, where the characters encounter animal hunters and slave traders. The work is noted for its inclusion of the hunt for gorillas, which was animal that was unknown to the Western World until just before the publication of the novel. 

In the publisher's original pictorial cloth.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth. Externally very smart with rubbing and fading to the spine, slight bumping and rubbing to the extremities, and a slight lean. Offsetting to the free endpapers with a contemporary ink inscription dated 1918. Front hinge tender after the frontispiece. Internally, binding strained in places but otherwise generally firmly bound. Pages generally bright with the odd spot.
