A collection of sea-themed patriotic and lyrical poems by Henry Newbolt, opening with his famous ballad “Drake’s Drum”, followed by verses celebrating naval heroism, duty, adventure and maritime folklore at the height of Britain’s maritime era.
Condition
Bound in the publisher's original full vellum binding. Externally, very smart. Slight splaying to boards. Hinges cracked with binding materials exposed, but holding. Previous owner's bookplate to front paste down. Ribbon tie absent. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean with the odd spot, heavier to first and last few leaves. Signed and numbered by the artist to the limitation page.
