In the publisher's original decorative cloth, each with a beautifully illustrated frontispiece of English country settings. Numerous in-text illustrations in both volumes by A.W. Seaby, as well as all 11 colour plates in Autumn and Winter, an all 10 colour plates in Summer, illustrated by different artists. Collated complete.

Two lovely volumes that immerse the reader into the natural world of the English countryside through Summer, Autumn and Winter. As a countryside writer for the Daily Mail and a nature correspondent for the Times, Thomas and Collett respectively collaborated on this loving project centered on British wildlife and the seasonal cycle. Very soon after the publishing of Summer, Thomas would become a war correspondent on the Western Front.
