In half vellum, with red morocco title label. 

Includes a frontispiece, a coloured map and 37 further plates of photographs by the author. Collated, complete. 

This work depicts the story of Russian peasants travelling to Jerusalem, with the preface stating that this event has never been described before in any language, not even in Russian, yet it is the most significant thing in Russian life of the time. 

Written by Stephen Graham, a British journalist, travel-writer, essayist and novelist. His works express his sympathy for the poor and his distaste for industrialization. 








Condition

In half vellum. Externally, smart. Light rubbing to boards, with small tear to front board. Odd mark to board, with vellum slightly stained. Previous owner's book plate to front past down. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are clean and bright with light spotting and age toning towards the front and the rear of the work.
