German. Illustrated with numerous examples of the typeface of Tempel-Verlag. A typographic specimen book printed in colour, providing a record of the Berlin-based publishing house Tempel-Verlag. Presented by the Bauersche Foundry, a German type foundry founded in 1837 producing a collection of noted typeface designers and numerous well-known typefaces. Designed by Emil Rudolf Weiss, a German painter, typographer, graphic artist and poet. Previously held in the library of Gerald Cinamon, an American book designer who was Penguin Books’ main designer of arts and architecture titles, becoming its chief designer in the mid-1970s. He was considered one of the most skilled designers of his generation.
Condition
In the original paper covered boards. Externally, worn with rubbing and light bumping to the extremities. Loss of the spine label with the cloth showing through. The odd mark to the boards with light sunning or age toning to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with minor age toning to the extremities.
