A scarce first edition.
Illustrated with a colour frontispiece, vignette decorations throughout and with twenty-one full page illustrations. These are all the work of Willy Pogany, the prolific Hungarian illustrator of children's books recognised for his pen and ink drawings of myths and fables.
Collated, complete.
Former owner's inscription - 'with kindest greetings and wishes' - to half title.
A wonderful collection of children's fairy tales edited by Pogany's brother, Nandor, featuring twenty-six tales including 'The Milky Way' and 'The Funeral of Attila'.
Condition
In the publisher's original decorative cloth binding. Externally, vibrant. Light rubbing to front joint, and light shelf wear to back strip tail. Fading to decorative cloth towards head and tail of front board. Hinges strained, but firmly held. Inscription to half title. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright.
