This is a collection of essays on ten of Shakespeare's plays: 'Much Ado About Nothing', 'Hamlet', 'Twelfth Night', 'Julius Caesar', 'Measure for Measure', 'Othello', 'King Lear', 'King John', both parts of 'Henry IV' and 'Henry V'.
Written by Stopford Brooke (1832-1916), a chaplain, writer and churchman known for his lectures and letters. His works include 'Theology in the English Poets Cowper, Coleridge, Wordsworth and Burns', 'The Poetry of Robert Browning' and 'On Ten Plays of Shakespeare'.
Condition
In a full calf binding with a gilt school emblem and gilt detail to the spine. Externally generally smart, edges and extremities are a little rubbed, resulting in slight loss to the leather; a water stain to the rear board. Spine is a touch cocked. Internally, firmly bound, pages are bright and clean bar the occasional spot.
