What Our Customers Say...
Description
First Edition, Illustrated, Original Binding, Publishers' Original Binding
First UK edition. Illustrated with a frontispiece, sixty-three plates, and a large folding map to the rear. Collated, lacking four plates to face pages 75 to 77. Aboard the Alabama, Mikkelsen and his small crew initially set out to the scarcely explored regions of Greenland to recover the journals from the ill-fated Danmarks Expedition. A previous mission on which the crew had succeeded in mapping many uncharted parts of Greenland, but never made it back. This is an account of Mikkelsen and his crew's three-year journey to recover the journals, as well as charting several parts of the east coast of arctic Greenland. Accounts of the physical difficulties are dwarfed by Mikkelsen's fascinating descriptions of their surroundings. Written by Ejnar Mikkelsen, a Danish polar explorer and writer. He is most known for his expeditions to Greenland.
