First edition, first printing of An English Boy's Life and Adventures in Uganda by Chas. W. Hattersley in the original publisher's cloth binding and illustrations.
With the author's note in which he describes the inspiration for the novel. His young son lived in Uganda and frequently sent letter's describing his life. He has used these letters as the basis of the novel with fictionalised aspects included.
With eleven plates, three of which are in colour.

Condition
In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, very smart. Some minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. The rear board is slightly faded. The hinges are starting but firm. Some spotting to the fore edge. Prior owner's ink inscription to the first free endpaper dated 1916. Internally, generally firmly bound. The pages are bright and clean.
