The first edition, in the publisher's original red cloth binding with pictorial gilt embossed, of this very scarce work by English war photographer Herbert Baldwin.
With thirty-two photographic plates taken by Baldwin himself and a prefatory note also by the author. Collated complete.
In this work, English press photographer Herbert F. Baldwin (1880-1920) gives his account of the First Balkan War (1912-13), during which he took over 540 photographs on glass plates. Baldwin went on to document Australian troops on the Western Front from late 1916 to early 1917.
Condition
In the publisher's original red cloth binding with pictorial gilt embossed to the front board. Externally, very smart with shelf wear and slight chipping to spine head and tail. The odd handling mark. Slight fading to spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright but age toned. Contains prior owner Francis E. B. Witts' bookplate to rear paste down, and Wicher Smit's to front paste down. Fore edge roughly cut.
