Illustrated with a portrait frontispiece, numerous further monochrome illustrations, eighteen colour mounted plates by artists including Arthur Rackham, Frank Brangwyn, Hugh Thomson and others, including mounted colour plates from Edmund Dulac, illustrating the scenes from the poems of Edgar Allan Poe. 

With a portrait photograph of Kipling to the front board, and with the first article in the volume being an essay on Kipling by Dixon Scott.

Further articles include 'The Poetry of George Meredith' by Alice Meynell, 'The Real Gissing' by Frank Swinnerton, and 'Girls and Fairies' by Katharine Tynan'.

With three loosely inserted advertisement leaves. Two advertisement leaves removed from rear.

The Bookman was a monthly magazine published in London from 1891 to 1934, presenting a catalogue of current publications, reviews, advertising, and illustrations.

Condition

In the publisher's original limp cloth. Externally, lightly age toned. Light rubbing to back strip head and tail. Hinges strained, with wraps only a touch tender. Lacking final two advertisement leaves. Internally, binding strained, with five central leaves - including two plates - detached and loosely inserted. Pages bright and generally clean, with only the odd instance of spotting to fore edge of leaves. Two advertisement leaves removed to rear.
