First edition. Illustrated with a frontispiece and sixteen plates. Collated complete. An insightful study into the development of aeroplanes for use in active warfare, with chapters on the first military tests of aeroplanes, the growing air-fleets of foreign nations, England's position on military flying, existing war aeroplanes, and aerial reconnaissance. As well as commentary on the development of all-weather war aeroplanes, training of army airmen, and maneuvers. Written by Claude Grahame-White, an English pioneer of aviation and the first to make a night flight during the Daily Mail-sponsored 1910 London to Manchester air race, and Harry Harper, a British pilot and aviation specialist.

Condition

In the original red cloth binding. Externally, sound with light rubbing and discolouration to the extremities. Marks to the boards. Hinges starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd small spot. Age toning to the endpapers with the odd small closed tear to the page edges. Library bookplates to the pastedowns.
