'Tanglewood Tales' consists of six short stories, being well-known Greek myths rewritten for children. From American author Nathaniel Hawthorne.
This book includes the myths of 'The Minotaur', 'The Pygmies', 'The Dragon's Teeth', 'Circe's Palace', 'The Pomegranate Seeds' and 'The Golden Fleece'.
Illustrated by George Soper, whose work appears in books and journals, including Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Grimm's Fairy Tales.
Illustrated with numerous in-text illustrations and plates, with six tipped-in colour plates, including a frontispiece. Collated, complete.
Condition
In the original cloth binding. Externally, smart. Slight discolouration to extremities. Minor rubbing and bumping to extremities. Discolouration and fading to spine. Heavy offsetting to front and rear free endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean with one or two spots to fore edge and first and last few leaves.
