Illustrated with a tipped-in colour frontispiece, eleven tipped-in colour plates, and numerous line illustrations in text, by Charles Folkard. Collated, complete.

Aesop's Fables is a selection of fables, generally attributed to the Ancient Greek storyteller Aesop, who lived around 620 BCE-564 BCE. The fables are moral tales that guide in religious and secular aspects of life, following adventures of many different creatures.

Folkard created the cartoon character Teddy Tail, who ran in the Daily Mail.

Condition

In the original publisher's cloth binding, in a custom cloth chemise, and custom cloth slipcase. Externally, generally smart. Small tears to the head and tail of the front joint. Light bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Spine is discoloured. Light marks to the cloth. Front hinge is starting but firm. Bookseller's label to the rear paste down. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean, with a few scattered spots. Slipcase is a little faded to the spine, in a near fine condition. Chemise is age-toned to the spine, in a near fine condition.
