An anthology of poems by Rudyard Kipling, in which he explores the question of British Imperialism towards the end of the Empire's life.
Kipling uses the imagery of seafarers going to far-flung corners of the Earth in most of these poems, in particular in the series 'The Song of the Cities', which visit capital such as Bombay, Hong Kong, and Sydney.
This edition is illustrated by the noted artist W. Heath Robinson, with a tipped-in colour frontispiece, twenty-nine tipped-in colour plates, and vignettes throughout.
Collated, complete.

Condition
In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, generally smart, with some light marks to the boards and spine. Minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Gilt is a little rubbed, and some light rubbing to the spine and extremities. Bookplate to the front paste down. Front hinge is a little strained but remains firm, rear hinge is starting but firm. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with some scattered spots.
