These Baedeker handbooks, from the company of German publisher Karl Baedeker, set the standard for authoritative guidebooks for tourists. They contain, among other things, maps and information regarding routes, travel facilities, noteworthy sights, attractions and museums, written by specialists.
With a folding frontispiece map of the Mediterranean, thirty-seven maps (a number of which are dual-spread) and forty-nine plans (seventeen folding). Collated, complete.
Covers Madeira, the Canary Islands, the Coast of Morocco, Algeria, and Tunisia. This is also the only Baedeker handbook in English containing a description of Constantinople.
Condition
In the original cloth binding. Externally, very smart indeed, with only a few light marks to the boards and minor shelf wear. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with spots to the endpapers and an ink impression to the half title. With a 2" closed tear to the folding frontispiece.
