The first edition in book form, complete in two volumes. This work was initially published in three parts, in paper wraps.

This two volume architectural work was written by Thomas Garner and Arthur Stratton, with Garner being one of the leading English Gothic revival architects of the era and Stratton being an architectural historian. 

This comprehensive work studies domestic architecture from the Tudor period, including photographs and architectural designs and sketches.

Volume I illustrated with eighty-four plates, volume II with one-hundred and eight plates. Collated, complete.

Rebound in quarter morocco, with endpapers renewed. Retaining half titles.

Rebound in quarter morocco, with marbled paper covered boards, and gilt detailing to back strips. Externally, fine. Endpapers renewed. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright, with light handling marks to a small number of plates to the rear of volume II.
