First edition. With a note inserted from the author which reads: "With love from Eleanor Longman" dated October 20th, 1911. Illustrated with a collotype frontispiece and forty-two plates. Collated complete. A detailed and comprehensive study of pins and pincushions, with chapters on the history of the pin from ancient times to the present day, the importance of pins, witchcraft, romantic superstitions about pins, games with pins, customs, and pincushions. Written by Eleanor D. Longman, a British art historian and S. Loch, an English author.

Condition

In the original red cloth binding. Externally, smart with light rubbing and minor bumping to the extremities. Fading to the spine and rear board with the odd small mark to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with scattered spotting. Age toning to the endpapers.
