This work includes the islands of Southern Melanesia (New Hebrides and Banks Islands) as well as the islands of Central Melanesia (Torres Islands, Reef Islands, Solomon Islands, and more). Including one hundred illustrated photographs by John Watt Beattie, an avid Australian photographer. Collated and complete. John Watt Beattie was an Australian photographer. Beattie was born in Aberdeen, Scotland. He was elected as a fellow of the Royal Society of Tasmania in 1890. He was appointed Photographer to the Government of Tasmania on 21 December 1896.
Condition
In the publisher's green cloth binding. Externally, very smart with minor shelf wear. Some bumping to the corners and head and tail of the spine. Internally, binding is slightly strained in some places, but remains firm. Internally, a few spots to the first and last few pages, and odd spot through, but otherwise pages bright and clean.
