A biography of British Conservative statesman George Nathaniel Curzon, focusing on his time as Viceroy of India from 1899 to 1905, and published within his lifetime.
The author of this work, Lovat Fraser, expresses his desire to present this information from 'the position of detached observer', especially as it comes to his analysis of the state of India following Curzon's departure.
With the bookplate of Eveline Miller to the front pastedown, and an October 1911 newspaper review of this work from The Times tipped in to the front free endpaper.
Chapters focus on 'Persia and Tibet', 'The Overhauling of Machinery', 'Commerce and Industry' and 'The Problem of Plague'.
Condition
In the publisher's original cloth binding. Boards bright, with bumping to back strip head and tail, and back strip lightly age toned. Front hinge strained, and a touch tender. Bookplate to front pastedown, newspaper clipping tipped in to front free endpaper. Internally, binding slightly strained throughout. Pages bright, with the odd spot and handling mark throughout.
